Policies and Procedures


Do Not Move Equipment
Do Not Move Equipment (computers, printers, etc.) without the involvement of Student Success Technology Services staff. SSTS maintains a database of all equipment we support and in order for it to be current we need to be involved in the move. For safety and liability reasons please do not move any computer equipment.
Software
Do Not Install Any Software without the approval of SSTS.

Please do not install any of the following:

  • Instant Messaging or chat software such as Yahoo! Messenger, AIM, Trillian, etc.
  • Games
  • Peer-to-Peer (P2P) sharing software such as BiTorrent or KaZaa

Streaming Audio/Visual Content
Please do not watch or listen to streaming online content

KU has a limited amount of bandwidth that we all share to access the web. By watching or listening to streamed content online, you are making the web slower for us all.

Staff Changes
SSTS must be notifed by the Personnel Related Staff member:
  • When employees leave your office, so that we can delete the former employee's server access. To do so, go to the SSTS Delete a Novell Account request form. This is part of the procedures outlined on the "Employee Exit Checklist".
  • When employees are hired, so that we can create a Novell account. To do so, go to the SSTS New Novell Account request form.
